First Baptist Church of Blooming Grove will host The Singing Men of North Central Texas in concert Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. The Singing Men of North Central Texas is one of six chapters in the state. The group is comprised of music ministers, worship leaders and music pastors from the north central Texas area. Steve Colburn, Worship Pastor at FBC Blooming Grove and long-time member of the group, is hosting the concert. The group has recorded over a dozen albums and have traveled to such places as Spain, Brazil, China and Ukraine on various concert mission trips. The concert is free and a love offering will be taken to help defray the cost of the upcoming mission trip to Ukraine and Crimea. The church is located at 208 N. Kerr St. in Blooming Grove. First United Methodist Church of Corsicana youth have begun work to prepare for their summer mission trip. Each summer the Junior and Senior High youth participate in the Central Texas Conference Youth Mission trip where they have the opportunity to repair homes and spend time in fellowship and Bible study with the residents (clients, as they are called). Last year ramps were built, homes were painted, floors were repaired, windows were installed, and yards were repaired and cleaned, including continued rebuilding and repair efforts from hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The groups did this work in Clinton, La. and Red Oak, Texas and are planning trips to the Arkansas/Missouri boarder as well as North Texas.
In an effort to raise money for these mission experiences the youth are hosting a Garage Sale on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church Great Hall (Gym). The sale will begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. There will be clothing, furniture, nic-nacs, appliances, toys, home furnishings, and many other items priced to sell. All proceeds will be used to support missions including a donation to missions beyond the work of the youth.
Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, located at 4495 W.
