Corsicana — Harmony Baptist Church, 400 East 12th Ave., Corsicana will hold an appreciation service for its musicians at 8 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013. This is the 14th year the church has honored Patrick Colbert, Organist/Bass Guitarist; Brandon Gooden, Lead Guitarist; and Christopher Meankins, Drummer/Percussionist.  This is the third year Jazzton Williams, Bass Guitarist, will be honored. All of the musicians grew up in this church and their musical talents are a real blessing to the congregation. All musicians, soloists, and choirs are invited to share in this special occasion.  Please come by and show your love and support. Bishop John Baker is pastor, Minister Vanessa Baker is sponsor and Minister Chasity Portis is minister of music.



Faith Lutheran Church, (3824 W Hwy 22), will hold a Springfest from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18. This spring sale will feature new and used items, such as used furniture, lap quilts, kitchen items, plants, electronics, crafts, bedroom items, baby items, decorating items, books, and will have a bake sale with all kinds of goodies. There will be a prize drawing for either a queen size quilt, crocheted afghan or ladies coat. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Drawing will be at 2 p.m., you do not have to be present to win.



Love Chapel Baptist Church located at 400 North Benton Street where David E. Wilson serves as Pastor and Sharron D. Wilson serves as Minister will have Revival Services  May 21 -23, 2013 at 7 p.m. nightly. The theme will be “Getting Back To Basics” from the scripture text I Peter 2:9-10. Guest speakers are the Mothers Of Zion featuring  Evangelist Mary Jo Dixon of the Greater Love Outreach Fellowship Church, Bishop William Lewis, Jr., Pastor; Bishop Annell Haney Pastor of The Church Of The Living God (Malakoff) and Minister Florine Hubbard of the Macedonia Baptist Church, Pastor Joe D. Bethel A.M.E. Church will have the Laity, Deaconesses and Stewardess Annual Program at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 19. Speaker for the hour will be Rev. Samuel Baker of Joshua Chapel AMEC of Waxahachie. Rev. Willie L. Greene Sr., pastor. Sis. Penny Liggins, Lay and Stewardess president. The public is cordially invited to attend. The Young People’s Department celebrated all Mothers on Sunday, May 12 with readings, gifts, flowers and song. First Lady Sis. June Greene also presented a paper and poem. Recognitions of those present were given to the oldest mother, Sis. Mable Scott; the youngest mother, Sis. Erie Jimerson; and the mother with the most children, Sis. Dolores Carter. The public is invited to join Bethel AME for Sunday School at 10 a.m. Sundays and at 11 a.m. for morning worship.



God's Holy Temple COGIC, 301 East Third Ave. located in the home center will observe its Third Sunday Youth Service at 4 p.m. May 19, 2013. Everyone is asked to come and support the youth. Singing by the youth choir, Praise and worship service, scripture readings, music selection by the musicians, and Spoken word by Bro. Jeffery Baxter Jr.  Please come out and support our youth. Missionary Baptist Church, 405 S. 15th Street, Corsicana. The church calendar is very full the next couple of months. Due to Home School Church Camp this coming week, Friday Night Fun and Fellowship Night will not be held. It will be held again on May 31 at 6 p.m. Preparations continue for Vacation Bible School, Youth Led Sunday and Summer Church Camp. Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, located at 4495 W. State Hwy. 22, invites all to join us for our Sunday Church Service starting at 10 a.m. We have nursery for babies through age 2 years and activities for 3 and 4 year olds. Intercessors for Navarro County Men’s Prayer Breakfast will meet at The Ark on N. Beaton at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and carpool to First Baptist Church in Kerens. Please note the change in venue. Navarro Mills Baptist Church will have a huge garage sale Saturday, May 25 beginning at 8 a.m., complete with barbecue and watermelon. This will be a fundraiser for Youth Camp.



Grace Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, 402 East 14th Ave., Corsicana, will be celebrating its Friends & Family Day on May 26, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. Rev. John Holmes of the Grant Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church of Palestine will be delivering the message for this occasion. The public is invited to come and celebrate this special day with the Grace Temple family. Life in the Word Bible Church, 1408 N. The Sixth Annual Memorial Day Service at Woodland Memorial Park in the Gazebo will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2013. The theme is “Gone But Not Forgotten” and it is sponsored by Single Believers Ministries and the Woodland Cemetery Association. The keynote speaker is Col. Bill Downey (Air Force), grandson of the legendary first black veterinarian in Texas Dr. Will Coleman. The Navarro County Sheriff’s Department Color Guard will perform a 21-gun salute, and TAPS will be played  by Les Grayson. Taylor Parks will sing “God Bless America,” and Pastor Leon Tate will emcee. Grief Share, sponsored by Northside Baptist Church, meets from 5 to 7 p.m. each Sunday at the Fellowship Center on Forest Lane (across the street from Northside). This is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. Each Grief Share session includes a video seminar and group discussion. Grief Share is a non-denominational group and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. This group is sponsored by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time.
