Winning 'Texas Two Step' ticket sold in Corsicana

Corsicana — If you purchased a 'Texas Two Step' lottery ticket at the Shell Mini Mart on West Seventh Avenue across from Whataburger for Monday's drawing, you might want to check your ticket.

Texas Lottery officials said Tuesday that a $225,000 winning ticket from Monday's drawing was sold at the Corsicana store.

Winning numbers were: 2 - 13 - 27 - 29, and the Bonus Ball was 16. The winning ticket matched all four numbers plus the bonus ball to reap the $225,000 prize.

The prize winning ticket was the result of a “quick pick” purchase, Lottery officials said.

Store employees posted the winning numbers on the counter Tuesday after learning their store had sold the lone grand prize winning ticket, and were anxious to find out who the winner  was.

The person who won the prize has not been identified by Lottery officials as of Tuesday afternoon. Lottery winners generally have up to 180 days to claim their prizes.

In addition to the grand prize winning ticket worth $225,000, the lottery paid out $1,160 prizes each to 12 people who matched the four balls but missed the bonus; another 24 people won $71 for matching three of the four numbers and the bonus ball; matching three out of four with no bonus ball paid $21 to 1,083 people; another 13,000 tickets qualified for payouts of between $5 and $22 in Monday’s drawing.

Caleb Curl, 13, of Frost FFA, won grand champion of the commercial heifer show, the first leg of the commercial heifer overall prizes. Unlike a lot of the other animal categories, commercial heifers aren't show-things with smooth coats and stardust on their hooves. They're straight out of the pasture, a bit muddy and certainly not the lady-like, pampered creatures that will be led around the ring in the registered heifer show.

It’s presented by the Warehouse Living Arts Center but because of its size is on stage at the Palace Theatre. Shows will be at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Friday and Saturday, with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee.
