Thomas Glenn Lewellen, 56, of Richmond, Mo., died at 4:10 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008, at his home.
Thomas was born March 2, 1952, in Kansas City, Mo., to Glenn Gerald and Leona (Phaff) Lewellen. He married Helen Griffin of Tipton, Mo., on May 24, 1975; she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Wendy and Brent Cook of Corsicana and Crystal Lewellen of Dallas; three grandchildren, Kathryn, Bailey and Samantha Cook; his mother, Leona Phaff of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Alan Lewellen of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Jim and Melody Lewellen of Gladstone, Mo., Dale and Winnette Lewellen of St. Louis, Mo., and David of Tampa, Fla.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Buryl and Donna Griffin of Richmond, Mo.; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Regina and Sam Conner of Sugar Creek, Mo., and Robin and Bob Hood of Gladstone, Mo.; father-in-law, Elwyn Griffin of Richmond, Mo.; several nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
In addition to his father, Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, Larry; his sister, Maria Lewellen; and one granddaughter, Miranda Lewellen.
Thomas and Helen had been stationed at different locations during his years in the service and had spent the past 11 years in Texas before moving back home to Missouri in January. After the service Thomas was a maintenance man for various apartment management companies. He was a member of Bethel Church in Polo, Mo.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Thomas Lewellen Memorial Fund.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, Mo. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Military honors to be provided by the Richmond American Legion Post No. 237 and the Richmond VFW Post No. 4398.
