Cecil Griffith, 85, of Corsicana passed away Monday, April 28, 2008, in Corsicana. He was born July 10, 1922, in Chatfield to Chester Arthur and Dorothy Layton Griffith. He served in the U.S. Army, was a deacon at Westside Baptist Church for many years, and owned the Texaco service station at Seventh and Highway 31.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Mahoney and Brother Bill Honea officiating. Interment will follow at Rice Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Johnson, James Goodwin, Eugene DeChaume, Steve Robinson, Coleman Chew and Tommy Oliphant. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Albritton and Lawrence Demoss.
Mr. Griffith is survived by his wife, Marie Griffith of Corsicana; brother, James Griffith of Rice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
