Paul Guillen, 76, of Temple died Monday, April 28, 2008, at a Temple hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Guillen will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Temple with the Rev. Tom Chamberlain officiating. Interment will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Temple.
Mr. Guillen was born April 2, 1932, in Corsicana to the late Felipe and Amalia Martinez Guillen. He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict in the 7th Infantry Combat Division and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a golf pro, a member of the Pan American Golf Association in Temple, and retired from Temple College Golf Course after 22 years of service.
Mr. Guillen was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Veda Guillen on Sept. 11, 1987, three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his sons, Roland Guillen of Temple, Larry Guillen of Phoenix, Ariz., and Gill “Bo” Guillen of Temple; daughter, Diane Guillen Starnes of Austin; one sister, Dominga Martinez of Lorena; three brothers, John Guillen of Temple, Lee Guillen of Corsicana and Fred Guillen of Temple; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
