Maurice Haynes

Maurice Haynes, 73, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Navarro Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Ross and Johnson Mortuary.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 2105 E. Jones Ave., with Elder Vernon Jessie officiating and Pastor Alfred Cox Jr. as eulogist. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Keith Hornbuckle, Rodney Knox Jr., Quinn Cook, Alex Davis, Chris Spence and Thomas Clelland. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Haynes was born Sept. 8, 1934, in Winkler. He was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, and a member of the Mount Olive Mass Choir and Male Chorus. He retired from Corsicana Housing Authority after 29 years of employment. He also worked for Auto Zone for three years. Maurice enjoyed playing dominoes and talking with everyone he met.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Verne Haynes of Corsicana; sons, Derrell Haynes and wife Digna of Killeen, Glen Dale Haynes and wife Quin of Waco, and Maurice Baldwin of Dallas; daughters, LaJuana Taylor (Edward), LaCresia Knox (Kevin), LaTonia Walker (Maurice), and LaNora Nolen, all of Corsicana; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Carraway of Las Vegas, Nev., Earnestine Portis, Lois Haynes and Barbara Brackens, all of Dallas; brother, Aaron Haynes Jr. of San Bernardino, Calif.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Zelmer and Eddie Mae Knox of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Leola Haynes; first wife, Mary Haynes; and two sisters, Emma Haynes and Willie Mae Clay.
