Jewel Poarch passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Twilight Home in Corsicana. She was 90 years old. She was born April 17, 1918, to G.A. and Bertie Lockhart in Emhouse. She was a Baptist and a member of Fundamental Baptist Church. She married W.L. “Bogie” Poarch April 18, 1932, and they were loving partners in life for 65 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bogie Poarch, infant son Precious Boy Poarch, and older brother Arlee Lockhart. She is survived by daughters Jan Herod of Kansas and Jane and her beloved son-in-law Frank Hignett of Corsicana; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and brother Wendell and sister-in-law Marie Lockhart.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Black Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Rogers officiating.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Troy Jenkins, Weston Cossell, Jason Napps, Kasey Kielhorn and Walter McClure and nephew Obie Lockhart. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Chase Hignett and Hunter Cossell and nephew Cole Taylor.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank Twilight Home and Family First Hospice for providing for her ease and comfort in her final days.
