William ‘Bill’ Thomas Estes Jr.
William “Bill” Thomas Estes Jr., a longtime resident of Kerens, passed away at the age of 84 Sunday afternoon, May 11, 2008, at Kerens Care Center.
He was born June 26, 1923, in Lubbock. He worked as a rancher for most of his life. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired after serving 21 years. He also fought in World War II and the Korean War.
The loved ones who preceded him were his wife Elizabeth Annielee Estes; parents, William Thomas Estes Sr. and Alta Bell Estes; brothers, Don, Victor and Troy Estes; and his sister, Pauline.
He is survived by one son, Ray Estes and wife Susan of Sparks, Nev.; four daughters, Monica Wood and husband Joe of Baton Rouge, La., Kay Priddy and husband Dennis of Kerens, Doris Bekerjeck of Leavenworth, Kan., and Ruth McMillan and husband Tony of Kerens; one brother, Lon Estes and wife Sharon of Stockton, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Kerens. The family wishes to offer a special thank you to his nursing home and hospice caregivers and his pastor, Brother Wes Johnson, and church family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at First Baptist Church in Kerens.
