Rubie Lee Owens-Doolen

Rubie Lee Owens-Doolen, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 14, 2008, after a lengthy battle with illness in Houston. Rubie was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Eureka to Fannie Ola and John Thomas Owens.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, James Doolen; loving daughter, Danna Dziedzic and husband Chris; grandson, Chad Dziedzic and wife Lena; granddaughter, Holly Dziedzic; sisters, Edna McCain and Lorene Folmar; brother, Jack Owens and wife Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews.

Rubie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Velma Skeene; and brothers, Bufford and George Robert Owens.

Rubie was a friend to all who knew her, with a huge heart. To her family, Rubie was their inspiration and guiding light with the fight of a tiger. She had an endearing love of life and loved being with her family and friends. Some would say she was born to be a grandmother after seeing her with Chad and Holly. Her storytelling could captivate an audience for hours especially her grandchildren. This beautiful lady, inside and out, will be missed forever and always.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Doolen’s caregivers for their steadfast care and support.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Corley Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Doolen will be Steve Haynie, Scott Haynie, Jimmy Taylor, Danny Owens, Jimmy Dean Owens and Dale Henning.

An online guest book is available at www.corleyfuneralhome.com by selecting the Rubie Lee Owens-Doolen obituary.

Arrangements by Corley Funeral Home. ∞

Love is stronger than death.

So I must be content to know that

love is not affected by death —

it doesn’t end, it doesn’t diminish,

it doesn’t change.

Instead, love is immortalized

and eternalized through death.

And the possibility of that love ever

being damaged or broken

is eliminated forever.

I’ll put my trust in love.
