Louise Dunbar Stansell

Louise Dunbar Stansell, 84, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009, at her residence.

Funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Pelham with the Rev. Dr. Elijah Stansell officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Michael Williams, Jesse Crawford, Herbert Anderson and Alassane Diatta.

Mrs. Stansell was born Oct. 22, 1924, in Teague. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Teague. She was awarded her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from the University of Arizona. She also earned a master’s degree in education.

She was preceded in death by Jimmie Victor Stansell in 1972.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara G. Martin (James) of Chicago, Ill.; three granddaughters, Dr. Nicole Martin, Leslie Michelle Martin and Ayesha Louise Diatta; and a second daughter, Patricia Diatta resides with her husband Alassane in New York.
