Carol Schwarz Sowell

After a brief battle with cancer, Carol Schwarz Sowell left us on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at age 72. She had resided in Corsicana since June 1, 1959. She was born on Feb. 24, 1936, to Fred G. Schwarz and Ruth Keith Schwarz in Van Alstyne.

Carol is survived by her husband, Maynard, and their four sons, Lance, Keith and wife Loree, Brett, and Scott and wife Grace; two grandchildren, Sierrah and Maynard; mother, Ruth Schwarz; brother, retired Staff Sgt. Charles Schwarz and wife Jo; an aunt, Juana Keith; brother-in-law, Vernon Sowell and wife Janie; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred G. Schwarz; and infant son, Blaine Sowell.

In 1996, the Lord blessed Carol with the birth of her first grandchild, Sierrah Sowell. The delight of another female in the family was probably the most thrilling event in her life. Carol immediately embraced being “GranCarol.” The second most thrilling event of her life came just over a year ago with the birth of “Little Maynard.” Her every moment as a grandmother was filled with love and pure joy. The past 12 years were unequivocally the best and most proud time of her life.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Corley Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Friday in Edna.

The family requests all memorials be made to Believers Bible Church, 2400 N. Bowie Drive, Corsicana, TX 75110; or a charitable organization of donor’s choice.
