Fisher Johnson Jr.
Fisher Johnson Jr., 71, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009.
Wake service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Ross and Johnson Mortuary.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Lifeline Fellowship Family Church, 5301 W. State Highway 31, with Pastor Billy Joe Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Fisher was born Sept. 8, 1938, in Corsicana. He attended Jackson High School and soon became a hard-working young man at an early age. His profession of faith was with the Church of God in Christ in which he grew up. Until his recent illness, he attended Johnson Memorial COGIC. His previous employment included McKee Lumber Company, CISD, and spent a great number of years working until retirement age at the Big Brown Power Plant (TXU) in Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fisher and Juanita Johnson; brother, Johnny Johnson Sr.; and sisters, Margie Cummings and Jacqueline Johnson.
Survivors include his children, Larry Kirven (Myeshia) of Long Beach, Calif., Quinton Johnson (Michelle) of Dallas, Gary Johnson (Debra) of Grand Prairie, Juanita James (Oliver) of Fort Worth, Fisher Johnson III of Atlanta, Ga., Ernest Walker (Erica) of Glenn Heights, and Tremaine Johnson of San Diego, Calif.; goddaughter, Tonya Renee Cole of Arlington; brothers, Jim Johnson and Joseph Johnson Sr. (Charlene), all of Corsicana, and Curtis Johnson Sr. (Mary) of DeSoto; sisters, Mamie Brown of Los Angeles, Calif., and Katie Wilson of Corsicana; 21 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; companion, Barbara Lambert; and special friend and mentor, Vernia Cotton.
