Bobby Gene Clay
Bobby Gene Clay was taken into the heaven by the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009. He was a devoted husband, daddy and Pawpaw to many grandkids and great-grandkids.
Bobby was born on Sept. 20, 1929, to the late William S. Clay and the late Ruby Harris. He served his country in the United States Army. He served as a Corsicana firefighter for 32 years and served Navarro County as deputy for 10 years. He was a proud Christian and served as a ordained deacon.
He was preceded in death by his father, William S. Clay; mother, Ruby Harris; father in-law, Seldon Smeltzer; and son in-law, Dean Cates.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Clay; son, David Clay and wife Darlene of Arlington; daughter, Pam Cates of Corsicana; son, Randy Clay and wife Lisa of Corsicana; grandchildren, Lori, Cheyne, Dustin, Alison, Amber, Kyle, Jason, Paula, Michael, Thresa, Brody, Meagan and J.T.; great-grandchildren, Chase, Kenneth, Nathan, Hayden, Carter, Paige, Laney and Kouper; mother-in-law, Geraldine Smeltzer; and brothers, Willie S. Clay and Richard Neal.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with interment to follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ricki Crenshaw, Ron Franks, Dusty Ledbetter, Kevin Farmer, Darrell Stevenson, Gerald Whitehead, Doug Fogg, Ken Parker, Dickie Mullenix, Randy Blue and L.H. Richardson. Honorary pallbearers are the Navarro County Sheriff’s Department.
