Woodrow W. Watson, 98, passed away Nov. 1, 2012, at Heritage Oaks West in Corsicana. He was born in Texarkana to Oliver Edward Watson and Birdie Lee Collins Watson on April 13, 1914. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Mertens. He married Juanita McNeel Watson on May 4, 1935, in Corsicana. They lived most of their lives in Mertens area and he was a farmer.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 76 years Juanita Watson, February 2012; infant daughter Dena Watson; six sisters Dorothy Honea, Claudia Murphy, Dovie Powell, Emma Jean Knight, Louise Jones and Victoria Mott; two brothers, Auther Watson and Herman Watson.
He is survived by his sons, Dwayne and wife Pat of Mertens, Bronny and wife Ruth Ann of Corsicana, Danny and wife Sue of Lorena; grandchildren, Joey Watson and wife Sallie of Mertens, Becky Watson Melton and husband Benny of Frost, Belinda Watson Branstetter and husband Brad of Coppell, Stacy Watson Haws and husband Josh of Mertens, Mark Watson of Corsicana, Matt Watson of College Station, Clint Watson and wife Cheryl of Wimberly, Lora Watson Sykora and husband Matt of Bruceville, Deann Miller Manchester and husband Tom of Coppell; 12 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren; sister Gladys Bishop of Waco; brother-in-law, Bill Honea; brother-in-law Walton McNeel and wife Betty of Dallas; sister-in-law Georgia Watson of Waxahachie; sister-in-law Tommie Fields of North Carolina. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Grady Cashion and Rev. Koby Strawser officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery in Mertens. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Joey Watson, Mark Watson, Matt Watson and Clint Watson; and grandsons-in-law Benny Melton, Brad Branstetter, Josh Haws and Matt Sykora.
