Corsicana Daily Sun

— Bobby Gene Carpenter Sr., 76, of Corsicana passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born July 17, 1937 in Corsicana to William Nathan and Jessie Lee Carpenter.

He lived his entire life in Navarro County, graduated from Corsicana High School in 1956, and attended Navarro Junior College for two years. While in high school he played tennis, baseball and basketball, and was named All State in basketball. At Navarro he played baseball and basketball. He remained a loyal Tiger fan his entire life.

In 1964 he married Betty Allred and they were married 49 years, 11 months and two days. Their marriage was blessed with three children: his first-born son, “Little Bobby” who was his dad’s pride and joy; his precious daughter, Megan, who brought him so much love; and “Daddy’s little angel” Joe, his baby boy. Bobby was blessed with five grandchildren, Chloe, Will and Emma Carpenter and Claire and Ryan Vadasy. Each was very special to him and they knew it.

He was a man of faith who leaned on the Lord and depended on prayer. He maintained a joy in his life in spite of the challenges of losing his vision later in life and his weakening heart. He was an inspiration to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Earl and Charles Brannon, and a sister, Mildred Adams.
