Samuel Michael Sims, 57, of Houston, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013.
He was born in Corsicana on Jan. 8, 1956. He went to high school in Kerens and Mildred. He worked hard his entire life as a newspaper printer working at the Corsicana Daily Sun, Polk County Enterprise, Houston Chronicle and retired four years ago. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, football and spending time with his family and grandkids. He also enjoyed watching old Western and horror movies, James Bond, Clint Eastwood, the Twilight Zone and Jeopardy. He was a loving husband, father and “Paw-Paw” that will be missed immensely.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Mae and Speck Sims; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Doris and George Caperton; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Russell and Clifford Hawkins; and his favorite dogs ,Rusty, Tasha and Sadie.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Caperton Sims; sons, Sonny and Stuart Sims; daughter, Sarah Sims; grandchildren Seth, Tyler, Gregory, Audrey and Cody; sisters, Anita Hawkins, Brenda Russell; and brother, Mitchell Sims; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Diane and Dieter Meins, Kathy and Mackie Robinson, Bud and Renee Caperton and Julie Sims; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Paschal Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Jimmy Glenn officiating.
