George Aldama

George Aldama, 76, passed away Friday afternoon, Oct. 26, 2012, at the Baylor Heart Hospital of Plano.

He was born Nov. 9, 1935, to Gabino and Abrana Aldama in Corsicana. George graduated from Corsicana High School in 1955. He entered the Army and reached the rank of Staff Sergeant, serving most of his military career in Germany. He was a long time member of the North Beaton Church of Christ where he led the congregation as both a deacon and an elder. George volunteered for the Road to Recovery which transported cancer patients to their treatment facilities around the Dallas area. He was vice-chairman of the Civil Service Commission in Corsicana. During his life, he worked several years at Chattanooga Glass, and the last 15 years for Ryder Truck Rental before his retirement. During his years of retirement, George loved to travel. His favorite thing to do was to drive anywhere, whether it was the beach or the mountains. He was as fine a man as anyone will know and a wonderful example of how to live your life.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lois Aldama Guerrero and Beatrice Aldama Gonzales; brothers, Cecil Aldama and John Aldama; and his foster son, George David “Mokey” Aldama.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ernestine “Ernie” Aldama; daughter, Teresa and son-in-law Robby Thomas; daughter Alicia and son-in-law Roland Guillen; grandsons, Stayton Thomas, Michael Lemons and Matthew Lemons; brothers, Ben Aldama, and Richard Aldama and his wife Linda; sisters, Ruth Fletes, and Eva Barlow and her husband Fred; and also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at North Beaton Church of Christ with Steve Orbison officiating.
