She was born in the St. Elmo Community near Winkler on April 13, 1923, to Sam and Estelle Lee. She came to personal faith in Christ at the age of 17. After graduating from Streetman High School as Valedictorian in 1940, she moved to Dallas to complete a course of study at the Metropolitan Business School. She then returned to Corsicana to serve as secretary to Mr. Ed Dillard in the AAA (Agricultural) Office at the Navarro County Courthouse. It was after the end of World War II that she met David Woodrow Wilson. The couple married June 28, 1946. In the coming years they made worldwide news through United Press International upon the births of their three children, born three years apart, all on July 13, also the birthday of Evelyn’s mother.
She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Corsicana, serving as her Sunday school class treasurer for many years and as a member of the Pate Bible Study Circle. She also served several years as a Training Union leader for children in the Primary age group. She often expressed appreciation for the fine Bible teaching she received from the pastors and teachers at the church. Throughout her children’s Sam Houston Elementary School years, she served as an officer of the PTA and a room mother. She was inducted as an Alumna-By-Choice of Baylor University in 1999. Evelyn worked alongside her husband in building the family business, Wilson Electric.

“..and He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” (Rev. 21:4). This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
