Harlan “Wayne” McGuire was born Nov. 23, 1937 in Reelsville, Ind. to Frankie and Jesse R. McGuire. He passed after a long illness on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at Navarro Regional Hospital.
Wayne lived his last years in Mildred where he was very active in the community. He served 14 years with the Mildred Volunteer Fire Department, with four of those years serving as Chief. Wayne also chose to serve the community as a Mildred City Councilman for seven or eight years with some of those also serving the Navarro County Planning and Zoning Board.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gerald Ray McGuire and Larry Allen McGuire, great-granddaughter Cecilia Nicole Williams, and great-grandson Tobis James Turner.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Reta Mae McGuire of Mildred, sister Mary Helen Budd of Brazil, Ind., daughters Donna Turner of Cleburne, and Sharon Williams and husband Richard of Eureka, grandsons Christopher Wayne McGuire and wife Bobbi of Eureka, Patrick Glen McGuire of Corsicana, Chadwick James Turner and wife Cassandra of Cleburne, Clayton (Chip) Williams and fiancé Ariel Spears of Phoenix, and Andrew Turner and fiancé Derissa Holland of Cleburne. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Marissa McGuire, Abby McGuire, Haiden Turner, Harlan McGuire and two more on the way. Also are very many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wayne requested to be cremated, with visitation only to be held Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Griffin –Roughton Funeral Home, 1530 N 45th Street, Corsicana, Texas.
