Don Elder Woolf, 81, of Corsicana passed away on Tuesday morning, June 25, 2013, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
The only son of Noel and Billie Kincer Woolf, he was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Electra, Texas.
After receiving his education in Fort Worth schools, he attended Texas Tech University where he was a member of the Geology Club and a charter member of Sigma Chi fraternity. Stationed in Germany he served our country with the U.S. Army. He was the beloved husband of Carlene Westbrook Woolf whom he married on June 15, 1963, in Kerens, and they were blessed with 50 happy years together. Living in various places in the states and Canada, he spent most of his working career in the petroleum industry, first with Baroid and then Dresser Atlas. His life was characterized by faith, integrity and humility. He was an ordained deacon of the Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noel and Billie Woolf.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carlene Woolf of Corsicana; sister, Christine Hewitt and husband Roy of Hutto; sisters-in-law, Nelda Westbrook and Becky Haynie of Corsicana; aunt, Dorothy Woolf of Bowie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a big host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Danny P. Reeves and Rev. B. F. Risinger Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Kerens City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Partain, Loran Seely, Lance Cook, Landon Cook, Logan Cook, and Lawton Cook.
Honorary Pallbearers will member of his Sunday School Class.
