Gilbert Wayne Christian

Gilbert Wayne Christian, 76, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born Feb. 10, 1937, in Donie, Texas, to Gilbert Christian and Ruby Harrington Christian. He attended school in Teague and graduated from Arlington High School in 1955. He worked in the aircraft industry for a few years. In 1960 he married his love, Pat Vines, and they had two children. He began a long career in construction as a construction manager working for several large companies in Dallas. He and his family moved to Rice in 1973 where he began a cow/calf operation. He became a member of Northside Baptist Church in 1988 where he loved and served his Lord faithfully. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and spending time with his cows. He loved his family, home and cows. He had a very loving family of which he was very proud. He is now in the loving arms of his Lord Jesus Christ and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Kate Moree; father, Gilbert Ivis Christian; step-father, Frank Ross Moree Sr.; son, Merrill Ross Christian; sisters, Jean Laird, Bonnie Cornett, and Phyliss Denny; brothers, Gary Christian and Frank Moree Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Christian of Rice; children, Kerry Glenn and Kelly Christian of Rice, and Phyllis Denise Hare and husband Robert of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Robert Wayne Christian and Ashley Holland of Navarro and their son, Colt Wayne Christian, Crystal Lynn York of Rice, and Kelsee Leigh Glover and Elliot of Arlington; sisters, Jo Richardson of Mexia, Neva Felz of Mexia and Pat King and Bill of Arlington; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at Rice Cemetery with Dr. Rick Lamb officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Northside Baptist Church 2800 North Beaton St. Corsicana, Texas 75110
