Mary Myrtle Champion, 91, went to be with Jesus Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013. She was born June 16, 1922 in Corsicana to Carlos and Gertrude Love.
Mary was a life-long resident of Corsicana. She graduated Corsicana High School as valedictorian. She worked as a telephone operator for AT&T for 45 years. Mary was the loving wife of Willis Champion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
She is survived by daughter, Barbara Miller; grandchildren, Glenn and Mary Kay Stone of White Oak; great-grandson, Mason and Tausha Stone of White Oak; two great great-grandchildren, Maci and Kayleigh Stone; and brother, James Love and wife, Joyce of Corsicana. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends. She lived a wonderful life and loved Jesus. The family wants to thank all for the prayers, the staff at Navarro Regional Hospital, the workers and staff from Family First Hospice. A special thank you goes to her life-long physician Dr. Kent Rogers, and her sitter Virginia Nicklas.
Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11 2013 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom McDaniels officiating. Pallbearers will be Glenn Stone, Don Bates, Mason Stone, Daniel Valdivia and John Bentley. Burial will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery in Retreat.
