Ruth “R.D.” Carter, 92, passed away at her residence in Samaria Friday, Dec. 6, 2013.
She was born Aug. 19, 1921 in Kerens, and is a graduate of Park High School, and was a music student at the Calhoun’s School of Music. Ruth earned her nursing degree from the Henderson College and worked at Maywood Manor Nursing Home in Kerens for 24 and one-half years. She was a member of the Samara Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Ruthie Tolliver; sister, Rella Lynn; brother Walter Wade (Giggs) Tolliver; sister-in-law, Annie B. Jones Tolliver; nephew Thurman Wade Tolliver and niece, Valarie Tolliver.
Ruth is survived by six nieces, Wanda Lynn of Hillsboro, Venus Brown and husband J.B. of Corsicana, Birdell Tolliver of Kerens, Ona Tolliver of Kerens, Sheila Goff of Waco and Wanda Branch of Mansfield; two great-nephews, Jahran Brown and wife Jennifer and Vincent Brown of Corsicana; and a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at Samara Baptist Church, Kerens with Rev. Johnny Vanibuls, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Samara Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rusty Goode, Jahran Brown, Alex Davis, Michael Wafford, Vincent Brown and Mark Jessie. Honorary Pallbearers are Bro. Andrew Bradford, Joe Hall, and J.B. Brown.
