— Bobby R. Sparks, 73, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He was surrounded by his loving family and close friends at his side.
Bobby was born Jan. 10, 1941, in Kerens, to Gussie and Orval Sparks. He married the love of his life, Nell Arnold, on Nov. 25, 1967.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elmer Sparks; and a sister, Earlene Reiley.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Nell; daughter, Christie and husband John Paul Roundtree and granddaughter Savana Wolver, all of Wolfe City; brother-in-law, Otis Arnold and wife Charlotte of Richland. Other survivors include his brother, Chester Sparks of Wimberley; and sisters, Charlene Rawling and husband Ron of Fresno, Calif., Mae Koreth of New Braunfels, and Elise Hoffman of Yoakum; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Bobby served in the United States Army Reserve and the National Guard. He toured in Germany and Ft. Polk, La. He worked at Chattanooga Glass plant for 34 years until his retirement in 1995. He then was employed by Watkins Construction Company and the city of Corsicana. Bobby loved to deer hunt, play card games and go fishing and camping. He loved for his friends to come have coffee with him and visit with him for hours, but most of all, he loved being with his family.
Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Daniel Dawson and Tim Moody officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
Pallbearers are James Almond, Jimmy Stewart, Allen Stewart, Darrell Hodge, Case Roundtree and Justin Roundtree.
Honorary Pallbearers are Thomas “Partner” Lucas, James Carrigan, Otis Arnold and Brian Arnold.
