— Dorothy Nell Jones Berryhill went to be with her Heavenly Father and her husband on April 26, 2014.
She was born in Chico, Texas, on Dec. 25, 1925, to Lela Bell and Robert Wiley Jones. A few years after her marriage to Ira Lee Berryhill in 1942, they moved to Roscoe, Texas, where she became a beautician. She was a fantastic Mom and Memaw, as well as a treasured friend to many. Friends and family often shared personal trials with her because she was a woman of wisdom, and she knew how to keep a confidence. Dorothy loved to sew, and she was known as a wonderful cook. If a friend was ill, she would soon be at the door with a hot meal and dessert. One family member once said, “Eating at Mom’s is like eating at a cafeteria, except you had more choices, and the food is better.”
Mrs. Berryhill was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Lee Berryhill; two grandchildren, Parrish Leon Berryhill and Dale Dean Berryhill; her mother and father; and 14 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three children, Darrell Berryhill and his wife Doloras of Sweetwater; Patricia Hassell and her husband Alton of Waco; and Waymonn Berryhill and his wife Debby of Longview. She also had eight surviving grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, T. G. Berryhill of McGregor; a special sister-friend, Dorothy Wade of Roscoe; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Heaven is now a brighter place with its new star.
