Billie Joe Crocker, resident of Alvarado and formerly of Corsicana, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at the age of 83. He was born on Wednesday, April 23, 1930 in Navarro County to Elijah and Ruby Crocker.
Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at Prairie Point Cemetery in Bazette.
He married Bettie Sue Wilson on Nov. 25, 1954 and worked as a mechanic for most of his life and for Navarro County driving trucks. Billie was a quiet man who was very content with his life. He loved to spend time outdoors, hating being trapped inside. He had a love for hunting and fishing and using his bird dogs. He served his country in the United States Army always keeping the stories of his service to himself.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son; Kenneth Crocker and brothers; Pat Crocker, Clifton Crocker and Alton Crocker.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bettie Sue Crocker of Alvarado; daughter Kathy Herrera and husband Larry of Alvarado; grandchildren Kevin Horn and wife Michele of Cleburne, Jennifer Hanna and husband Joey of Mildred and Stephanie Crocker of Denton; and six great-grandchildren Abigail Horn, Shawn Horn, Chase Horn, Rusty Hanna, Lilly Hanna and Josie Hanna. He is also survived by one sister, Janie Melton of Cedar Hill, and a number of other family members.
