J.M. 'Bo' Brewer

  J. M. “Bo” Brewer, 91, of Waxahachie, Texas formerly of Corsicana passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 at Red Oak Health & Rehabilitation Center in Red Oak. He was born March 10, 1923 in Aspermont, Texas to James Malford Brewer and Mattie Elizabeth Brewer.

He married Juanita Derrick on Aug. 15, 1942, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. J. M. “Bo” and Juanita owned and operated Brewer’s Gulf Station at the corner of Seventh Ave. and  24th St. for over 20 years. Bo Brewer enlisted in the United States Army in 1945 and served under Gen. George S. Patton during World War II. He was also part of the Security Guard for the Nuremberg Trials. Although he was only in the Army for 15 months he received two Bronze Stars, the German Victory Ribbon, Two Overseas Service Bars, and the Army of Occupation Ribbon. He was proud of his service and a very patriotic man.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and seven siblings.

He is survived by his sons, Roger Dale Brewer and wife Catherine of Waxahachie and Ronnie Eugene Brewer and wife Alpha of Mildred; daughter, Regina Mae Brewer-Garner and husband Marco Vargas of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Debra Lynn Jones of Florida, Ronnie Eugene Brewer, II of Fairfield, Renee’ La Joyce Isom of Waco, Christopher Michael Garner of Euless, Rebecca Diane Brewer of Pennsylvania, and Sgt. Scott Dale Brewer of Wisconsin; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerrell Brewer of Quinlan and S.M. Brewer of Arlington and sister, Geneva Speed of Corsicana.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Corley Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery with Pastor Ed Ridge officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Eugene Brewer, II, Christopher Michael Garner, Sgt. Scott Dale Brewer, and Ronnie Eugene Brewer, III. Military honors will be performed.
