Jo was born Oct. 3, 1935 to R. W. Stuard and Minnie Mae Hill Stuard in Dalhart. She grew up in the Abilene area with her brother Jack Stuard and sister Janice Stuard Moore. She supported her husband through his education and ministry applying her talent as a chalk-talk artist while raising three children, Bruce Purifoy, Doyletta Purifoy Smith and Le Michelle Purifoy.

After retiring as Parish Secretary from St. John’s Episcopal church, she became a Shaklee Distributor, partnering again with her husband to assist others by providing products to support optimal health.

Memorial Service to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church.

In consideration of Jo’s wish to aid the fight of others, the family requests donations to the International Myeloma Foundation,, or the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
