James Shook, 90, of Corsicana, passed away March 11, 2014.
He was born Dec. 6, 1923 in Corsicana to Milford and Ida Shook. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and bowler and loved to be outdoors. He was always there to help anyone whenever he was needed. In 1985, he retired from Fibergrate and they moved back to Corsicana to live out their retirement years helping raise their great niece and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mildred Low Shook; parents; brother, Milford Shook Jr.; son, James Kevin Shook; and brother-in-law, Joe Baumgartner.
Survivors include his sister, Peggy Baumgartner; daughter-in-law, Caroline Higgins; nieces and nephews, Janet and husband Leon Foster, Anele and husband Mike Richardson and Denise and husband Jerry Brown; great nieces and nephews, Elizabeth and husband Kevin Collier, Hayden and wife Tiffany Richardson and Dillon and wife Allison Brown.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed Straubing officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Collier, Hayden Richardson, Dillon Brown and Ty Anderson.
