Debra Barham Armstrong

Corsicana —

Debra Barham Armstrong, 54, fought a courageous battle with cancer and very peacefully went to be with the Lord early morning Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013.

She was born in San Antonio on Aug. 25, 1958 and was raised in Blooming Grove, graduating with honors from Blooming Grove High School in 1976. Debra took various accounting and computer classes at Navarro College, and worked at Chem Lab Products Inc., The Walsh Group in Malakoff, Enviva Health Services for Dr. Kal Shwarts, Monitronics International Inc. in Dallas, and Today Homes in Corsicana through her lifetime.

Debra loved her family more than anything, and her two grandchildren were so precious to her. She had a strong bond with her dog, Llano “Boo,” and also loved her many granddogs. She sincerely loved all animals, and was very passionate about her work with the Navarro County Humane Society. She loved arts and crafts, and was very creative and talented, not only with a computer, but enjoyed painting, woodwork, and creating beautiful, custom jewelry designs. During the warmer months, she truly loved being outside planting flowers and creating beautiful landscaping in her yard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joy Elaine Ballew and William “Sonny” Barham; very recently her brother, Gary Barham; and Mary Loretta Barham, grandmother, Herman Barham, grandfather, and Cassie Morgan, grandmother.

Debra is survived by her husband, Mike Armstrong, son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Elaine Woods; son Jeffrey Pittman; daughter Chrystal Pittman; son Cole Armstrong; grandchildren Sydney and J.C. Woods; mother-in-law Judy Armstrong; and two brothers-in-law, Dale and Joann Armstrong of League City, Texas, and David and Carol Armstrong of Las Vegas.

Debra’s life will be celebrated in a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at First Baptist Church Blooming Grove, where she was a member.

Flowers are welcomed, but in lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations in her name to local pet organizations The Humane Society of Navarro County or Project Pawz, Lynn Gatlin.
