— Grover Earl Raney fought a courageous battle against lung cancer. Surrounded by loved ones he entered into rest and into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013.

Grover Earl Raney was born Dec. 6, 1946 in Ennis to Grover Raney and Oleta Arnett Raney. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1965 and entered the United States Army on March 7, 1966. In April 1967, he received the Commemoration Medal for the TET offence in Vietnam. He was in the Army Security Agency in PHU BAI. He served in Korea in 1968-69. He received disability due to Agent Orange. His career in telecommunications ended with Nortel’s bankruptcy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Oleta Arnett Raney, sister Rose Ann Raney, and grandparents Frank and Lena Arnett, Aaron G. and Carrie Raney.

He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Janice Davis Raney; two sons, Tony and Karen Davis of Blooming Grove, and Jeff and Kathy Davis of Eureka; grandchildren, Tony Wayne and Jessica Davis of Blooming Grove, Emily Davis of Blooming Grove and fiancé Dalton Smith, Chris Davis of Corsicana, Jacob Davis of Eureka and fiancé Samantha Dickerson, and James Davis of Eureka; and great-grandchildren Madison, Makenna and Mason Davis of Blooming Grove.

He is also survived by seven brothers, Ronnie and Theresa Raney of Waxahachie, Shelby and Laura Raney of Ft. Worth, Kenneth and Joyce Raney of Carrollton, Elton and Linda Raney and Henry Raney, all of Corsicana, Steven and Joni Raney of Waco, and Robert and Jackie Raney of Eustace. Grover is survived by eight sisters, Charlotte and Mike Cordell of Denton, Joyce and Clyde Smalling of Prineville, Ore., Frankie and Michael Whisenant, Lena and Morris Farmer, Beth and Dean Ginn, Peggy Gunnels, Joy Bottoms and fiancé Frank Serrano, Audrey Raney and fiancé Nathan Harris, all of Corsicana. He is survived by three aunts, Joann Arnett Tomlin of Corsicana, Ethel Raney Stovall of Dallas, Mary Raney Stovall of Florida; and Uncle Roy and Jeannie Arnette of Corsicana.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013 at Corley Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews, James Raney, Chris Raney, Ryan Raney, David Thomas, Jared Smalling and Shawn Smalling.

Honorary pallbearers are sons and grandsons: Tony Davis, Jeff Davis, Tony Wayne Davis, Chris Davis, Jacob Davis, and James Davis.
