Simon S. Yangmera, 53, passed away at his residence in Corsicana on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born Oct. 9, 1960 in Yap FSM to Lafau and Yabe Yangmera.
Simon left Micronesia in 1978 and came to Texas to study education at East Texas State University in Commerce. He left Commerce and moved to Corsicana in 1989, where he met and married the love of his life, Beverly J. Dabney. He worked at True Value for 16 years before he had to leave due to his illness. Simon had an amazing smile and everyone that knew him will remember him by his signature smile. Simon’s family was always first and foremost in his life. He loved to eat, walk around and sing as high as he could, he also loved fishing and playing Texas Hold’em. His wife, children and family will forever hold sweet memories of Simon in their hearts.
Simon was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his children, James Beck, Tracy Beck, Michelle Beck Davis, Jeremy Perez and wife, Monica. Simon is also survived by his grandchildren, Alyssa Lawhon, Merissa Davis, Caleb, Jacob and Kynlea Perez, Ali Beck, John Wyatt and Blake Ballard. He is survived by his uncle, Simon Maiwelmal and wife Sonya, his older brother, John Hiyang, his nephews, Travis Maiwelmal and wife, Joey Maiwelmal and wife, Marcellino Haleypiy and niece Marissa Maiwelmal.
Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at Corley Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Hutchison officiating. Pallbearers will be Joey Maiwelmal, Travis Maiwelmal, Joe Brewer, Ali Hasugulig, Spencer Kohama, Rico Ferrer, Cody Reed and Tyler Halerumal. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
