James F. Franks

James F. Franks, 82, of Corsicana passed away at home on Thursday, April 3, 2014 with his family by his side. James was born March 14, 1932 in Rice to Willie and Louise Franks.

He was preceded in death by his son Jimmie Dale Franks in 2002.

James is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ouieda Franks of Corsicana; son Terry Franks and wife Lou; daughters Debra Sue Warrington and husband Larry, Carla Dyess and husband Danny all of Corsicana, Linda Guthrie and husband Ronnie of Burnet; daughter-in-law Bertha Franks of San Antonio; grandson Matthew Franks Warrington of Corsicana; granddaughters Samantha Warrington Day and husband David of South Riding, Va.; Amy Tait of Schertz; Lindsey Garza and husband Trini of Shiner; Sarah Mitchell and husband Chris of Derby, Kan.; and great-grandchildren Zachary Tait, and Judah, Micah, and Ellyanah Garza. He is also survived by a sister Lynita Depriest and husband Clyde of Linden, Tenn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

James worked in the oilfield for over 60 years. He was a driller and also owned and operated a pipe and steel yard as well as a roustabout and hotshot service. He worked many long hours and hard days to provide for his family. Work was not just his livelihood but also his hobby. James was known for getting the job done right the first time because there was always another job waiting to be done. He was proud of his work and proud of the work ethic that he instilled in his children. He and Ouieda also enjoyed traveling across the United States with his family and friends in their motor home. 

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 5 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April  6, 2014 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Petersen officiating.

There will be a private burial at Resthaven Cemetery for the family.
