Vera Louise Ivie, 91, a lifelong resident of the Purdon community, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014. She was born Dec. 27, 1922 in Purdon to Sammie Cleveland and Eva Lou Ward.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn D. Ivie and brothers, Lloyd and Nelson Ward.
Mrs. Ivie is survived by sons, David of Purdon and Wayne and his wife, Susie of Bryan; granddaughters, Gala Huckaby, her husband Steve and mother Carolyn Cobb, Amy Rogers and her husband Adam, and Betsy Fritz and her husband Brad; great-grandchildren: Jason McCrory and his wife Beth, Travis and Tyler Huckaby, Keith and Derek Fritz, and Emma Louise Rogers. Mrs. Ivie is also survived by her treasured sisters; Hazel Ivie and Alma Keele of the Purdon community and many loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Corley Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Leonard Ward officiating. Pallbearers will be Bo Ivie, John Ivie, Mike Ivie, Brad Fritz, Burt Maddox, and Adam Rogers. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Huckaby, Jason McCrory, Dicky Phillips, and Ricky Thomas. Interment will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery in Retreat.
