Otis Lee Long, 76, passed away peacefully at 4:23 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014. He was born July 17, 1937 in Fort Worth to Otis Troy Long and Leola Pulford Long. He was a United States Navy veteran, and a Church of Christ preacher, having served in that capacity in Texas, Arizona, Nevada and Florida.
Long was preceded in death by his parents; sister Kay Stapleton and two grandsons, Robert E. List Jr. and Dustin T. Smothermon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Beverly “Sue” Long; and his four children, LeAnna List and son-in-law Robert E. List Sr., Mark Long and daughter-in-law Robin Long, Nancy Smothermon, Sherry Watson and son-in-law Kenn Watson. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, as well as two nephews and one niece.
A local memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Hampton Inn in Corsicana.
Mr. Long's remains will be placed at the National Memorial Cemetery in Grand Prairie, Texas at a later date.
