Mildred Riggs, 84, a resident of Grapevine for 22 years, formerly of Corsicana and Euless, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 at Baylor Medical Center at Irving.
Born April 4, 1929 in Haslet, she was the daughter of John and Bertie Smith Wright. After 30 years of employment, Mildred retired from International Harvester, Inc. She and her husband were the former owners of Raudin McCormick, Inc., and members of First Baptist Church in Euless.
Gran, as Mildred was referred to by her grandchildren, was a beautiful, gracious, classy, intelligent lady, who had a quick sense of humor. She was a friend to all.
Preceded in death by her husband, Grady Riggs; brothers, James “Bud” Wright and C.B. Wright; sisters, Dorothy Shehee, Evelyn Wright and Patsy Brennan, survivors include her daughter, Judith Riggs Tompkins of Irving; son, Gary Riggs and wife Evelyn of Corsicana; grandchildren, Wade Tompkins and wife Kris, Jim Riggs, Elizabeth Tompkins, and Margot Tompkins; great-grandchildren, Cira Tompkins, Ivory Tompkins and Kirstin Riggs; brothers, Forrest Wright and wife Mavy, John Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway, Irving Texas 75062.
Service is 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Glenn O. Hilburn officiating. Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m., Saturday at Kaufman Cemetery in Kaufman. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
