Thomas Warren "Zapp" Zappettini, 72, died Saturday, June 8, 2013 at his home in Trinity. Zapp was born Sept. 21, 1940 in San Francisco, Calif. to Nathaniel and Beatrice Zappettini. He played trumpet in the California Orchestra before joining the United States Air Force. Zapp retired from the City of Dallas Police Department after 25 years of service. Zapp thought he was going to enjoy his retirement moving to Trinity fishing and working on boats, but then went on to retire once again from TDCJ as a Prison Guard. Zapp was also a member of the FOA Boating Association.
Zapp is preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Betsy Louise Zappettini; daughter, Lisa Gayle Zappettini; and grandson, T. J. Webb.
Survivors include his daughters, Angela Washburn and Patricia Carpenter-Perry; grandchildren, Joseph Perry, Brandy Washburn, James Perry, Joshawa Perry, and Samantha Buchanan; great-grandchildren, Robert Perry, Ryan Perry, BreAnna Rose Perry, Noah Washburn, Mackenzie Perry, Joshawa Benjamin Perry, and Mady Buchanan; sister, Claire Zappettini. He is also survived by numerous other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013, Waller-Thornton Funeral Home in Trinity.
Graveside Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery in Corsicana.
