Patsy Ruth Kelley went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully at home and surrounded by family on Saturday, April 13, 2013, after a 12 year battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Patsy was born April 10, 1941, at home on the family farm in Hill County as the only daughter of Wilson and Oleta Kuykendall. She had two older brothers and one younger brother. She started to school in Midway, in a one room school house where she went for one year. She started second grade in Milford, and graduated from Milford High School in 1959. After graduation, Patsy worked in Dallas at Dun & Bradstreet. She married James A. Kelley of Italy, Texas, in the Milford Methodist Church on July 14, 1962. They lived in Bynum and Hillsboro for four years until moving to Kerens in 1966. Both of her children were born in Hillsboro — Scott on April 7, 1963, and Jana on Dec. 31, 1970. Patsy worked at Kerens Elementary School for 18 years and at the Kerens Bank for 24 years before retiring in May of 2009.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wilson Kuykendall; mother, Oleta Kuykendall; mother-in-law, Vestal Kelley; father-in-law, W. Odell Kelley; and younger brother, Bruce Kuykendall.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years and 9 months, James A. Kelley of Kerens; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Dana Kelley of The Woodlands; daughter and son-in-law, Jana and Jeff Thompson of Southlake; two older brothers, Sidney Kuykendall of Denton, and Wayne Kuykendall of Waxahachie; and her precious grandchildren, Ryan Kelley, Catherine Kelley, Jetta Thompson and Jolie Thompson; two sisters-in-laws, one brother in-law, an aunt, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Paschal Funeral Home in Kerens.
Funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at the Kerens First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leslie Byrd officiating. Interment will follow in Brandon Cemetery at Brandon, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Kelley, Randall Kuykendall, Randy Ward, Glenn Kuykendall, Herbert Charles Kuykendall Gary Frank, Tim Boyd and Kelly Woods.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Kerens.
