— Bonnie Ann Gordon Mathison, 75 of Corsicana, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior on April 17, 2013.  

She was born June 12, 1937, in Corsicana to John Samuel and Carrie Edna Gordon.

Bonnie graduated from Corsicana High School in 1955 and then attended Navarro Junior College being honored as a member of the Senoritas. She married Lewis Mathison in 1958 and they moved to Commerce to further their education at East Texas State University. After graduation Bonnie dedicated her life to others raising four children and touching young lives for 28 years as an elementary school teacher in Chico and Blooming Grove. Since retirement she has devoted herself to praising the Lord by serving as a member of the choir at St. Luke United Methodist Church. She also held various positions in the Order of the Eastern Star.  Bonnie and Lewis enjoyed travelling the world, experiencing God’s wonders. Bonnie’s desire was for her family and friends to celebrate her life and asked us to pass along to everyone, “I did it my way.”

Bonnie leaves behind her husband, Lewis Mathison of Corsicana; oldest daughter, Sharon and Gary Watkins of Crockett, and their children Matthew and Sara Watkins of Arlington and son Luke and Christopher, and Darci Watkins of Lewisville and daughter Hayden; daughter, Debra and Paul Goyne of Stuttgart, Germany, children Aaron Goyne of Pennsylvania, Kaylyn Cowan and Brad Frasier of Rockwall; and daughters, Summer and Maci, Jason Cowan, Carrie Goyne, and Michael Goyne of Stuttgart; daughter, Nancy and Billy Sykes and child Blake Sykes of Chatfield; son, Tim and Tiffany Mathison and children Hunter and Hailey Papendick and Shelby Williams of Plano. Bonnie also leaves behind brothers, Sam Gordon Jr. of Livingston, Dan Gordon of Corsicana and sister Kathy Paschal of Mexia; numerous nieces and nephews.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Wanda Brashear.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2013.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
