Thomas Leolden “Dock” Turner, 77, of Corsicana passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013 at Navarro Regional Hospital.
He was born Sept. 15, 1935 in Roane, and attended G. W. Jackson High School. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Later he joined Bethany Baptist Church. In the later years of his life, he joined Taylor Memorial COGIC, where he served as a faithful and active member. His livelihood was maintained at the Cotton Mill, Collin Street Bakery and the Brick Yard.
Dock was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. T. A. Turner; sister, Dorothy Turner Jones; and twin brothers Ardie and Tardie Turner.
He is survived by three brothers, Elbert Alexander Turner and Robert Earl Turner, both of Corsicana, and W. Leo Daniel Turner of Dallas; three sisters, Ruby Irena Turner Williams (Marshall), Frances Marie Turner Crittendon, and Ella May Turner Humphrey, all of Corsicana. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home Chapel, and from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 2105 E. Jones, Corsicana with Pastor Alfred Cox officiating.
Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Corsicana with pallbearers Min. Clarence Horn, Kelvin Powers, Gregory Stewart, David Coleman, Larry Wilson and Charles Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elijah Crittendon, Roderick Humphrey, Elbert Turner, Robert Turner, Leo Daniel Turner, and Marshall Williams.
