James Lloyd Fuller, 95, entered into his heavenly home Tuesday, March 4, 2014. He was born March 29, 1918 in Blooming Grove, the son of Claude Lee and Carrie Nellie Fuller. He lived in Blooming Grove nearly all of his life.
James (better known as Jim, Uncle Jim, Pawpaw Fuller and Daddy), was a fun-loving, kind-hearted man. He was a hard-working man who loved God's green earth. He absolutely loved driving his tractor, plowing, planting and harvesting his lovingly planted crops of cotton, corn, maize, potatoes, onions, watermelons to name a few. He always shared his garden produce with friends. Later he worked for 18 years at Chattanooga Glass Plant in Corsicana as a bottle inspector.
Jim was the second son of Claude and Carrie Fuller. Preceding him in death were Claude, Carrie, and brothers Edwin and Travis, and also his sister, Bernice Fuller Short.
Jim married Alice Maudeen Carroll on Sept. 27, 1938. She preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 1978. They had five children; Myrtle Faye Fuller Smith, Nellie Grace Fuller Dixon, James Lloyd Fuller, Carl Dean Fuller, and Mary Alice Fuller McCann. Carl Dean preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 2010. He is survived by his other four children and daughter-in-law Debbie Fuller; grandchildren, Donnie Smith, Mike, Todd and Chad Dixon, Scott and Steve Fuller and their sister Sheryl Arnett; Chris and Kevin Fuller; Allison Hagan and Terri McCann; great-grandchildren Drew and Chase Smith, Heather Dixon Kennemur and Joshua Dixon; Haley and Hannah Dixon; Jacob and Eli Fuller, Brody Fuller; James and Tiffany Bryan; Sean and Emma Fuller; Brooke and Connor Hagan; great-great-grandchildren A J Bryan and Drake and Brooklyn Kennemur. Also, numerous nieces and nephews and other family members. Daddy had a special love for his dog, Judy. He often expressed his desire to have Judy with him in the nursing home. When she visited him in the home his heart melted with love for her.
He married Lucille Boyd on July 17, 1979 who died Dec. 12, 1997. Her daughter, Jane Harris, was close to Jim and loved him like a dad.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Blooming Grove for many years, then attended Nolan River Road Baptist Church in Cleburne during the six years he lived with his daughter. He loved Pastor Larry York and his beautiful wife, Jeannie. His Adult 7 Sunday School class members have been so faithful to keep in touch with him even the last two years he has been in Twilight Nursing Home in Corsicana. Their loving support has been a great encouragement to him and his family.
Jim was a veteran of World War II, serving in Italy as a driver. He was honorably discharged Sept. 20, 1946.
