Patty (Pat) Verne Ford Taylor

Pat Taylor passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Odyssey Healthcare Facility in Houston, after a two month illness in which she chose to take risks and fight to regain her quality of life.

Pat was born to James Wesley (JW) Ford and Jennie Goodin Ford on Sept. 16, 1925, and raised in Corsicana.

She graduated from Corsicana High School in 1943. Pat was employed by the State National Bank, which is now Chase Bank, where she was named Head Teller. While still in Corsicana she met the love of her life B.F. (Bill) Taylor from the Drane community.

In December of 1946, she traveled to meet Bill in Bremerton, Wash., where they were married on Dec. 21, 1946. As Bill moved with Shell Oil on a seismographic team they lived in nine states and over 40 cities and towns. Pat was a devoted wife and proud mother to their son Jim. In 1977, Pat and Bill moved "back home" to Trail Ridge Drive, where they loved to garden, work in the yard, travel and be close to family. After 20 years they moved into town to a lovely town home. They loved participating in the Shell Retirement Club's annual events keeping up with former colleagues and friends. When able they enjoyed the YMCA and coffee with friends. Pat was at Bill's side throughout a long illness and devoted to his care. He passed away in October of 2006, just a few months shy of their 60th anniversary.

In the years since, Pat has enjoyed coffee with friends at Brookshire's. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church and faithfully watched the televised Sunday services. She was an avid sports fan. If the Rangers, the Cowboys or the Longhorns were playing, she was watching. "You don't need the sound to watch a good game.”

Always the devoted mother and grandmother, Pat adored her time with Jim and Stephanie. She welcomed Sue and her daughters into her life with open arms. Last May after a fall she moved to Spring, to be closer to Jim. After some recuperation time she made her new home at the conservatory in Spring where she made new friends and was closer for more frequent visits with Jim and Sue.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; and her daughter-in-law, Judith Head Taylor.

Survivors include her son, James F. Taylor and wife Sue of Spring; granddaughter, Stephanie R. Taylor of San Francisco, Calif.; brother, Billy Gene Ford and wife Louise of Silver City; sister-in-law, Dot Taylor of Dallas )formerly of Corsicana). She is also survived by three great-grandchildren who chose her as their “MomMom Pat” and numerous nieces and nephews as well as countless close friends from everywhere and her caregivers.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Corley Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Corley Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Lamb officiating.

Pallbearers will be Billy Ford, Bradley Ford, Brandon Ford, Ron Davidson, David Aldama and Justin Aldama. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Mausoleum in Corsicana.

Memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church Building Fund at 2800 North Beaton Street, Corsicana, Texas 75110, or to the charity of your choice.
