Charles Hodge, one of eleven brothers and sisters, passed away April 17, 2013, at the age of 90. He was born May 8, 1922, in Navarro County to Arthur and Nell Hodge.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mattie Hodge; two children Sandra Garrett and husband Howard, Donald C. Hodge and wife Karen; and three grandchildren, Jeffrey Noel Garrett, Jeremy Charles Garrett and Cameron Charles Hodge.
He lived in South Texas most of his life and worked for Sun Air Company. He was an avid golfer, and a wonderful gardener producing gorgeous tomatoes as well as a fabulous cook. His most loved food he cooked was barbecued brisket, peppermint ice cream and the best turkey and dressing you ever tasted.
He retired from Sun Oil Company as a gas plant foreman. He never ask for much but gave his all. He was dearly loved by his family and will be deeply missed. He pride and joy was his three grandsons. He called them his “Little Men.” They loved him to pieces. One of his grandsons Jeffrey married Angela and she has two daughters Bethany and Paige. Papaw gladly accepted these young ladies as his own great granddaughters. Papaw loved everybody. He gave his all we will miss him greatly but will never forget him. Rest well you've earned it.
Graveside services will be 1:00pm Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Birdston Cemetery with David King and Maxine King officiating.
