Juan Antonio Cerda

Juan Antonio Cerda, age 29, of Corsicana passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 in Waco. He was born Jan. 10, 1984 in Corsicana to Nora and Victorio Cerda.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Antonio Cerda, Ofelia Torres, Lazaro Ortega and Virginia Ortega.

Juan is survived by his wife of almost two years, Contessa Marie Cantu Cerda; parents, Victorio and Nora Cerda of Ennis; his brother Victor Cerda and wife, Crystal of Ennis, and his sister, Pearl Hernandez and husband, Juan of Belton. He is also survived by his grandfather, Cleto Ortega and wife, Angelita of Rio Hondo. Juan cherished his niece, Narissa Cerda, and nephews, Victor Cerda, Kinsler Peterson, Jonathan Cerda and Corbin Peterson. Juan is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Juan received an associate’s degree from Remington College in Web Design. He worked as a driller at Trinity Materials for five and one-half years and worked as a grinder for Oil City Iron Works for a little over two years. He was a very hard worker and was a very dependable employee. He loved life to its fullest. He gave himself 100 percent to his family, his work and his hobbies. Juan loved to go “R.C.” racing with his brother. He loved to fish and hunt with everyone. Family was very important to him; he loved “hanging out” with his family. He enjoyed cooking with his mom and working outdoors with his dad. Juan had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed “cutting up” with his father-in-law. Juan’s younger sister gave him the nickname of “Ninni.” Most of all Juan cherished his wife, Tessa, and was with her all the time except when he had to work. You could have said that they were inseparable.

Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton-Beeman cemetery in Retreat. Pallbearers will be Javier Garcia, Brian Mundie, Juan Jose Villegas, Noel Cantu, Joel Cantu and Brodie Cantu.
