Edna Blanche Jordan Moore

Corsicana resident Edna Blanche Jordan Moore, 78, departed this life for her heavenly reward on Thursday morning, Oct. 10, 2013.

Blanche was born Feb. 13, 1935 in Beaumont, and was preceded in death by her parents Cora Edna Currie Jordan and James Ira Jordan.

Blanche and her husband Durward (Bob) Elworth Moore were a devoted married couple for 52 years. Bob passed away in 2005.

Blanche is survived by four children, Garland C. Moore and daughter-in-law Irene S. Moore of Conyers, Ga.; Deborah Moore Sikes and son-in-law Billy Mack Sikes of Corsicana; James (Jim) D. Moore and daughter-in-law Karen Sikes Moore of Stockton, Utah; Travis Moore and his wife Melissa Riggs of Oak Point; six grandchildren, Jordan Sikes, Leyla Moore Norman and her husband Chris Norman, Carey Moore, Joshua Sikes and his wife Dawna, Matthew Sikes and Tucker Lee Moore, and one great-grandchild Abbey Norman.

Mrs. Moore is also survived by her sister Marjorie Jordan Hill of Woodville, and her two nieces, Terrie Ann Hill Schmearer and Lenora Hill Danhauser.

Mrs. Moore graduated from Beaumont High School, where she was an active member of the high school marching band and orchestra. Mrs. Moore played many different instruments, including drums, flute, guitar, piano, piccolo, and xylophone to name a few. She was saved and baptized at Robert's Avenue Methodist Church, Beaumont, and later became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Corsicana where she and Bob were active for many years.

Mrs. Moore followed her husband in his U.S. Army career to Camp Polk, La., Fort Riley, Kan., Bamburg, West Germany, Fort Benning, Ga., Beaumont, (while he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan), Fort Meade, Md., Fort Eustis, Va., Woodville, Texas (while he was stationed in Vietnam), and Fort Hood. Following Bob’s retirement from the military, Blanche moved with her family to Union Point, Ga., and then ultimately relocated to Corsicana in 1973. Throughout her many travels, Blanche was extremely proud of the fact that she was a Native Texan and would willingly share that fact with anyone she met.

After moving to Corsicana, she was a proud employee of Collin Street Bakery for 19 seasons and also briefly worked with the Crisis Hot Line.

Mrs. Moore's children and grandchildren brought her great joy. She was an involved, hands-on and supportive mother who acted as home-room mother for her children while in school, and supported their various activities with band, church and scouting. Blanche never met a stranger and always enjoyed engaging everyone in conversation especially if it involved a discussion about her favorite Dallas Cowboys.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, 1530 North 45th Street, Corsicana, Texas 75110.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in Corsicana. Burial will be Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
