Katherine Frances (Sheffield) Bell passed away at 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at Texas Health Resources Hospital in Plano, just short of her 93rd birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband William Thomas (Buddy) Bell, Jr. who died in February 1987. They were married Jan. 5, 1935 in Blooming Grove. Both were longtime residents of Navarro County.
Katherine was one of 10 children (five boys and five girls) born in Johnson County to J. S. (Jake) and Pollie Sheffield.
She is survived by a sister Oleta Grounds, 91, of Corsicana; her son Dale O. Bell and wife, Sharon; her daughter, Betty Beauchamp and husband, L. Joe Beauchamp, of Melissa with whom she lived for the past eight years. She is also survived by grandchildren Cathy Mozelle of Melissa, Michelle Presley of Corsicana, Joe Paul Beauchamp of Prosper, and Tara Podjenski of Corsicana; great-grandchildren Amy McCarty of Celina, Makenna, Callie and William Beauchamp of Prosper; Zachary and Zane Dickerson and Haley Jenkins of Mildred; Colton and Kennedie Dunlap of Corsicana, and Colin J. Hawks of Denton; great-great-grandchildren Justin and Jason Coxsey of Celina and many nieces and nephews.
Katherine’s wish was to donate her body to science with her remains being cremated and ultimately interred at UT Southwestern University Medical Center’s Donor Memorial Garden in Dallas. Always a loving and giving person, her final gift will benefit all those who follow. She was baptized in the 1950s by Pastor W. M. Shamburger, First Baptist Church, Corsicana.
