— Virginia Hughes passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 of complications from surgery. She was born Aug. 24, 1922 near Waco to James V. and Molly Kate Tyler. She and her husband Roy moved to Corsicana in 1948 and were married for 65 years before he preceded her in death in 2003. Her two sons, Ronald and his wife Donna, and son Randall, live in Hickory Creek, Texas.

She is survived by a sister, June Schroeder of Waco; a granddaughter Jennifer Frederick of Denton, three great-grandchildren, Amber Bryant of Jacksonville, N.C., Christian Warner and Laurel Frederick of Denton, and great-great grandson, Richard Bryant IV of Jacksonville, N.C.

Virginia was a member of Northside Baptist Church ever since moving to Corsicana. She took great joy from her membership in the T.E.L. class at the church. She enjoyed children and worked as a teacher’s aide in the Corsicana public school reading program.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at Griffin Roughton Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a reception at Northside Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall following the services on Monday.
