Bradley Neal Bates, born June 12, 1958 in Arlington, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 28, 2013 at his home in Dawson surrounded by his loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his father, James T. Bates.
Brad is survived by his wife, JoLenn Bates; daughters, Britney Bates and Taylor Bates; and grandchildren, Darrion Chapman, Briana Chapman, Gabriel Townsend, Elizabeth Townsend and Permi Townsend. He is also survived by his mother, Marie Bates, brother Ricky Bates and wife, Susan and sister, Patricia Eddings.
Brad graduated from Corsicana High School and attended Navarro College.
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.
He was an avid outdoors’ man; he loved to hunt, fish, and campout and country western dance. He was a hard worker and enjoyed bull riding, raising horses and cattle; he earned his Black Belt in Karate. Most of his life was spent in insurance sales.
Brad was a devout Catholic and member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
He was a God-send to his family, especially his adopted daughter, Britney. He loved his family with all his heart and enjoyed playing pranks and joking around with them. “Bops,” as he was called by his grandchildren, always had time for his family and spent many long hours enjoying them.
Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home. A Rosary Mass will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday led by Deacon Lewis Palos.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Corsicana with Father Jason Cargo officiating. Pallbearers will be Kenny Dobbs, Dakota Hancock, Jonathan Cunningham, Whit Tanner, Scott Russell, Jrake Russell, Travis Faucett, and Rodney Faucett. Burial will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery in Retreat.
