Ruth Mae Wallace Warren Sneed, 63, of Corsicana received her call from the Lord to board the heavenly train Saturday, April 27, 2013 peacefully at Country Meadows Nursing Home in Corsicana. Ruth was born May 18, 1949 to the parentage of Ed Wallace, Mack Warren and Pearl Hamilton Wallace Warren in Tyler. She graduated from Jackson High School/Chapel Hill High School in May 1968 and atttended Tyler Jr. College.
Ruth professed a faith in Christ early in life with Triumph the Church in Kingdom of God in Christ, Tyler and later after moving to Corsicana, she united with Second Mission Baptist Church under pastoral of the late Rev. Paul Curry and now under the pastoral of Rev. Larry L. Polk, Sr., until she couldn't usher in the saints into God's house and her health failed. Ruth loved Second Mission Baptist Church where she served as an usher, deaconess, and secretary of the usher board.
Ruth Mae met and married the love of her life, the late Robert Lee Sneed, Sr. To this union three children were born, and Robert also helped to raise her eldest son, Willis Kennedy Warren.
Ruth worked at the Holiday Inn for 10 years in Laundry and later worked for Tom's LTD and Lance as a packer where she retired after 31 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Ed and Alberta Overton, and Elias Warren and Sally Gates; parents; husband, Robert Sneed, Sr.; son, Adam Sneed; sister, Katherine Wallace-Skief; and aunt, Myrtle Milton.
Ruth Mae Sneed leaves to cherish her long lasting memories: Children, Willis Kennedy Warren of Tyler, Theresa Williams and husband Jesse, and Robert Sneed, Jr. and wife Sarah, all of Corsicana; nine grandchildren; Lavern Kennedy, Janay Williams, Ashley Williams, Jesse Williams, Carlos Evans, Raymon Sneed, Iesha Sneed, Brandon Chilton and Kenetra Chilton; 13 great-grandchildren; Jamal Williams, Makayla Evans, Maliah Evans, Fennix Roberts, Jamar Roberts, Jr., Conner Roberts, Candice Sneed, Aniya Stevenson, Brontray Chilton, Braden Chilton, Azariyah Andrews, Kevin Wynn Jr., and Maria Wynn; one brother, Albert Wallace of Arlington; loving niece, Lela Harold (Robert), Waco; nephews, Bobby Wallace (Kendra), Corsicana, Albert Johnston, Arlington, great nephews and nieces; and great-great niece, cousins, other relatives and the Second Mission Church Family.
Wake services are 7 to 8 p.m. at Ross and Johnson Mortuary Chapel.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Second Mission Baptist Church, 909 South 5th Street with Minister Catherine Manning officiating, and Pastor Larry L. Polk, Sr. as Eulogist. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park. Arrangements by Ross and Johnson Mortuary.
